High rise warehouse construction right on schedule

31.08.2017

Roeselare, August 31st, 2017 – At the end of August 2016, Poco Loco started on the construction of a new fully automated warehouse. Work has been moving along at a swift pace since then and everything is on schedule to put the warehouse into service at the start of 2018.

The fully automated warehouse is being erected on a new 7-hectare site opposite the production buildings on the Rumbeeksegravier. To connect both buildings, a 100-meter bridge was built over the road. Conveyor belts in the production halls and across the bridge will move raw materials from the warehouse to the production lines, and, conversely, finished products to the warehouse.

There are presently over 25,000 truck movements per year between the production site and the current external warehouses. Transferring a large part of the storage from these warehouses to the new site opposite the production buildings, will result in less trucks hitting the road to transport the goods and thus greatly reduce CO2 emissions.

With a height of 43 meters and a surface area of 15,000 m², the building will be able to accommodate 42,000 pallets. The construction of the warehouse on the Roeselare production site represents an investment of 40 million euros.
